In 2002, the projection of“Irrigation Projects Richen Farmers”got great effects, the living level farmers who lives in mountain area was improved steadily. The amount of newly founded small irrigation facilities reached 11 thousand. The constructions of 1571 well stations and small reservoirs have been finished. Increased water conserving capacity reached 3800 thousand square meters, increased and improved irrigation area reached 387 thousand Mu, solved drinking water problem for 29 thousand people and 7600 cattle. 67 thousand farmer families and 250 thousand mountain area farmers took part in the projection of“Irrigation Projects Richen Farmers”. Total financial investment reached 12.3 billion Yuan; farmers’investment amount occupied 54% of the total investment amount.

　　The total area of Beijing mountain area is 10.4 thousand square kilometers, occupying 62% of the total area of Beijing. Economy of mountain area takes an important position in suburbs economy. In 2002, economy of mountain area developed rapidly. The GPD of 49 far mountain towns reached 5.58 billion Yuan, increasing 17.2% than that of 2001; local financial revenue reached 0.52 billion Yuan, increasing 31.4%; farmers’per capita average pure income reached 4250 billion Yuan, increasing 14.9% than that of 2001. The increase production value of the first industry, the second industry and the third industry increased rapidly, the increase scope respectively reached 7.6%, 21.4% and 19.3%. The industrial structure developed toward reasonable direction, the proportion of three industries was adjusted from 24.4%, 35.9% and 40.7% in 2001 to 22.4%, 36.1% and 41.5%. The task of poverty extinguishment has got greatly improved, 70 villages in which farmers’yearly per capita average pure income was less than 2500 Yuan disappeared in 2002; the amount of these villages reached 261, occupying 85% of the general amount.
